The difference between being rude and giving constructive advice

As a leader you are often times asked to give your opinion of something or feel you should give some constructive criticism to someone on your team.  This does not give you the right to be rude or to go about being tactless and negative.
  
If asked your opinion by all means be truthful but always show empathy because we never know what a person is going through without walking in their shoes.
  
I was taught as a child that if I had nothing good to say then I should not say anything at all.  Being a leader does not give me the right to harshly criticize or talk down to anyone. On the other hand if I am asked for help with something I will carefully listen to the question and answer so that I fully understand the question.  Jumping in without knowing or understanding the issue is neither helpful or appreciated.

So what does this mean?  It means we should take the time to listen, to think before speaking, and then to be ready to give a constructive answer rather than just knocking someone down.  Sometimes we do need to be a bit more direct to someone only so that they can become more aware of their need to improve themselves but think before you speak (or type).

The art of giving good instructions

With the much awaited Protection Through Gold Team Funnel came a flood of "How do I do it?" comments in Facebook and on Skype.  Great How To videos were provided in the PTG back office.  It seems that not everyone can follow a video.  Maybe it is an age thing - Some of us grew up READING rather than WATCHING.  

Each person learns in a different way.  Some by looking at pictures, some by watching a YouTube videos, some by reading  step by step instructions.  For those old-schoolers like me, I have created a web page with step by step instructions accompanied by screen shots. 

Whether you use the videos or my page does not matter.  What does matter is that you follow the instructions step by step when setting up your Aweber lists and email series.  

If you always depend on someone doing this for you, you will never learn to do it yourself.  Take ownership of this task and I guarantee that you will have a sense of accomplishment when you are done.

I was at a Google hangout last night and one of my colleagues said something that really hit home.  She said she had issues letting go of feeling responsible for the failure of her referrals.  I could really identify with that but did not realize until she said it that I was having the same guilt issues when someone I referred didn't see any success even though I helped them as much as I could. I know that you cannot change someone's mindset as they must do that on their own.  Giving them a hand up and giving them a handout are two very different things.  Should I steer them in the right direction, of course.  Should I drive the car for them, no definitely not.

I also realized that because I wanted other people to succeed so badly I gave up much of my time that could have been used in much more productive ways.  Will I stop helping people?  No, that is not my nature.  Will I step back a bit and let them develop their own game plan and mindset?  You bet!

New programs offer cheap advertising

There are  million new launches at any given time but be on the lookout for those that are free or inexpensive to join because may of them offer decent advertising for a low price.  Forget the promises they make and concentrate on the product - the advertising.

If you are an online marketer you need as much advertising as you can afford.  A solo ad pointing to your capture page is key to building your list and earning online.

This is probably the hardest thing to figure out. If money is no object there are plenty of high priced places to advertise with. The importance of destination Events

Attending the Nashville Karatbars Celebration added so much dimension to my Karatbars business.  Not only was I able to meet my sponsor for the first time offline but also the leaders throughout the world.  Harald Seiz the owner of Karatbars, was there and  it has made a big difference in my belief in the company after meeting him in person.  At that time we had about 3000 members in our team.

Banner Advertising - Building a List

This week I have spent setting up banner ads at several sites.  The banner points to a capture page that leads to my Aweber account.  From there people who have filled out the form will receive an email series from me with some great information. 

Let's face it we all get bombarded with emails daily.  We like to get something good when giving out our contact info.  A capture page shouldn't sell something.  It should start a long term relationship between you and the people on your list.  Get to know each other.  Share your thoughts, experiences, failures, and successes.  Offer solutions.

I just assigned 5000 views to my most recent test banner.  I will let you know how it goes.

You've seen it a million times.....

Hurry... Time is running out.... Join before the window closes....Only up for 4 more hours....blah blah blah blah blah

Let's face it.  If a company is legitimate is there really a big rush to join?  There shouldn't be.  Do your due diligence, research the company, and don't jump in with your eyes closed. Find out what kind of support is offered.  Too many times you join, pay a fee of some type, and are left standing there with no help on how to build that business.  Don't jump in and find out that you might drown before you even get started.  Know your sponsor.  Know your upline if possible.  Take your time, with a good company there is no rush.

Success

Success is a journey, a journey must be planned and you must take the first step to complete the journey!  You need an itinerary, a plan, a map, but for a successful journey you need to leave the baggage that weighs you down behind.  

Don't pack the negatives, but do use the lessons learned to bring about positive changes.  In marketing remember that every "NO" brings you closer to another "YES".

A Partner

My Husband has decided to join me in my online ventures.  This means he also decided to share my office.  After purchasing a new desk for him we realized that the office would have to be rearranged to accommodate it.

Can they all be wrong?

It seems that every known economist is predicting an end to the US Dollar as we know it.  Can they all be wrong?  I personally think that we need to take their warnings seriously.The average life of any fiat currency is approximately 40 years.  We went off the gold standard in 1971 and it is now 2014...43 years...and things are quickly getting worse.  Are you paying attention?  Will you have any real currency if the dollar becomes worthless?  Are you preparing yourself and your family for the rough times that may happen sooner than you think is possible?  Do yourself a favor and educate yourself.  Make an informed decision on what you need to do. 

A start to a great year.

Hello Everyone,

We are 2 weeks into the new year and many resolutions have been made and already broken.  If you are trying to earn an income online it takes work and you cannot give up or you will not succeed.  I see so many complain that they need to earn more money but if you really want to succeed you cannot just make wishes.  Go buy a lottery ticket and I wish you the best!

So what should you do?

Find a company or opportunity that you feel good about and then use the tools to make it a success.  It will not happen on it's own.  It takes work.  Do not expect someone to hand you success.  Learn as much as you can, step out of your comfort zone, learn more, talk to people, and connect with your upline for things you do not yet know. 

Learn how to advertise.  Learn to build a list.  Get out there and do it and do not give up.  You can succeed if you really want to, or you can fail because you quit.
